Brain scans reveal how mild TBI affects Self-Control

NCT ID NCT02260570

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Apr 25, 2026 · Updated 29 times

Summary

This study looked at how mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI) affects a person's ability to control impulses, focus, and manage emotions. Researchers used brain scans (fMRI) to see how memory and self-regulation work in the brains of 55 veterans with mTBI. They also tested whether the drug tolcapone could improve these abilities. The goal was to better understand the brain changes after mTBI, not to provide a treatment.
