Could your heart and nerves explain Post-Stroke exhaustion?
NCT ID NCT06292377
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study is looking for 250 stroke survivors to understand why many feel overwhelming tiredness after a stroke, known as post-stroke fatigue. Researchers will measure heart rate variability, heart function, and blood markers to see if problems with the autonomic nervous system or heart contribute to this fatigue. Participants will be followed for several months to track their fatigue levels and overall recovery.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
What this could lead to
If successful, this study could reveal why some stroke survivors suffer from long-term fatigue, pointing toward future treatments or prevention strategies.
What could go wrong
This is an observational study, not a treatment trial. It may find no clear link between heart/nerve function and fatigue, or the results may not apply to all stroke patients.
