Blood tests reveal hidden subtypes of lung failure in kids

NCT ID NCT04113434

First seen Apr 28, 2026 · Last updated May 18, 2026 · Updated 3 times

Summary

This study involved 513 children with a severe lung condition called ARDS who were on breathing machines. Researchers took blood samples to look for different patterns of illness, called subtypes, that might need different treatments. The goal was not to test a new drug, but to better understand the disease so that future studies can target the right therapy to the right child.
