Uncovering the hidden reasons kids with butterfly skin refuse pain relief
NCT ID NCT04853667
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 27 times
Summary
This study looked at why children with hereditary epidermolysis bullosa (a rare disease causing fragile skin and painful blisters) often do not take prescribed opioid pain relievers before daily baths and bandage changes. Researchers interviewed 10 children and their parents to understand the barriers to taking these medicines. The goal was to gather insights to improve pain management, not to test a new treatment.
