First seen May 11, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study aims to better understand why and how humans produce nonverbal vocal signals such as screams, grunts, roars, cries, and laughter. Researchers will record and analyze the sounds made by 2,000 participants, measuring things like pitch and voice quality. They will also monitor heart rate, skin responses, and pupil changes to see how the body reacts. The goal is to learn more about these common but poorly understood vocalizations.
