Scientists probe hidden link between type 1 diabetes and PCOS in women

NCT ID NCT07490964

First seen Mar 29, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 6 times

Summary

This study looks at why women with type 1 diabetes are more likely to develop polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and high male hormone levels. Researchers will compare 60 people across five groups, including women with and without diabetes and PCOS, as well as men with diabetes. They will measure insulin sensitivity, body fat, hormone levels, and genetic differences to uncover the root causes. The goal is to better understand these conditions, not to test a new treatment.
