Scientists trace deadly heart infections back to gut bacteria

NCT ID NCT07313865

Summary

This study aims to understand how a common gut bacteria, Enterococcus faecalis, escapes the intestines and causes serious heart valve infections. Researchers will examine 90 hospitalized patients with this bacteria in their blood to map where it comes from and how it travels. The goal is to learn more about the infection process to help prevent future cases and relapses.
