First seen Feb 15, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 12 times

Summary

This study tests whether draining the umbilical cord after delivery can lower the risk of severe bleeding (postpartum hemorrhage) in new mothers. Researchers will compare blood loss, hemoglobin drops, and need for extra treatments between 400 women who receive cord drainage and those who do not. The goal is to find a simple, low-cost way to improve safety during vaginal births.
