Simple cord drain may cut Post-Birth bleeding risk
NCT ID NCT07401160
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study looks at whether draining the umbilical cord after delivery can lower the chance of severe bleeding (postpartum hemorrhage) in new mothers. About 400 women having a vaginal birth will be randomly assigned to either have cord drainage or not. Researchers will measure blood loss, changes in hemoglobin, and whether extra treatments are needed to control bleeding.
