First seen Apr 24, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 5 times
Summary
This study tests whether a transplant of umbilical cord blood can slow the progression of ALS, a fast-moving nerve disease. The idea is that the transplant may calm harmful inflammation in the brain and spinal cord. Eight adults with early-stage ALS will receive the transplant and be monitored for safety and any changes in muscle strength, breathing, and daily function over two years.
