Ultrasound vs human expert: which better predicts safe feeding tube removal?
NCT ID NCT06877897
Summary
This study tests whether a simple ultrasound scan of the throat is as good as a speech therapist's assessment at deciding when it's safe to remove a feeding tube. Researchers will compare both methods in 150 adults recovering from illness who still have a feeding tube but no longer medically need it. The goal is to see if the ultrasound measurement can reliably help patients return to normal eating sooner and more safely.
