Ultrasound scan could make surgery safer by spotting tricky airways before anesthesia

NCT ID NCT07315256

Summary

This study aims to see if adding a quick, painless ultrasound scan of the neck to a standard airway exam can better predict which patients will be difficult to place a breathing tube in during surgery. About 160 adults having planned surgery will be randomly assigned to get either the standard exam alone or the standard exam plus the ultrasound. The goal is to improve patient safety by helping doctors identify airway risks more accurately before anesthesia begins.
