Can a quick neck scan make surgery safer? new study tests ultrasound for predicting difficult breathing tube placement

NCT ID NCT07315256

Summary

This study aims to improve how doctors predict difficult breathing tube placement during surgery. Researchers will compare two methods: the standard bedside airway exam versus that same exam plus a quick, painless ultrasound scan of the neck. The goal is to see if adding the ultrasound measurement helps identify patients who might have a more challenging intubation, potentially improving safety for 160 adults having elective surgery.
