Ultrasound breakthrough may prevent breathing tube removal failures

Summary
This study tests whether a new ultrasound technique (speckle tracking) can better predict when patients on breathing machines are ready to have the tube removed. Researchers will compare ultrasound images taken before and during a weaning trial to see if they can identify patients at risk of failure. The study involves 110 adults in intensive care units.
