New ultrasound could predict chemo success in weeks, not months
NCT ID NCT07583381
First seen May 14, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study looks at whether a special ultrasound can tell doctors earlier if chemotherapy is working for people with colorectal cancer that has spread to the liver. Currently, it takes about 2 months with CT or MRI scans to see if the tumor is shrinking. The new method uses contrast-enhanced ultrasound to measure blood flow inside the tumor after just 1-2 rounds of chemo. If successful, this could help doctors change treatments faster, reduce side effects, and save money. The study plans to enroll 107 adults who have not yet started treatment.
