Hidden lumps ruining insulin? ultrasound could be the fix

NCT ID NCT06782568

First seen Feb 15, 2026 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 11 times

Summary

This study looks at whether using ultrasound to detect fatty lumps (called lipohypertrophy or 'Lipos') caused by insulin injections can help people with diabetes improve their blood sugar control. About 50 adults with type 1 or type 2 diabetes who use insulin and a continuous glucose monitor will get an ultrasound scan of their injection sites. If lumps are found, they'll be taught to avoid those spots. Their glucose levels will be tracked for 24 weeks to see if this approach increases the time their blood sugar stays in a healthy range.
