Can a simple scan and common drugs make emergency surgery safer?

NCT ID NCT07343817

Summary

This study aims to see if using ultrasound to check stomach fullness, and then giving one or two common drugs, can help empty the stomachs of injured patients before emergency surgery. Researchers want to know if this approach reduces the risk of stomach contents getting into the lungs, a serious complication. They will compare giving metoclopramide alone versus giving it with dexamethasone to see which is better at speeding up stomach emptying.
