Seeing your tongue move: can ultrasound images help people relearn speech?

NCT ID NCT02752425

Summary

This study tested whether showing patients real-time ultrasound images of their tongue movements during speech therapy helps them improve more than standard therapy alone. It involved 18 adults who had throat surgery for cancer and children with speech problems from brain injuries. Therapists alternated between sessions using the ultrasound screen and sessions without it to compare progress.
