No-Radiation scoliosis test could spare kids unnecessary X-Rays

NCT ID NCT07490886

First seen May 02, 2026 · Last updated May 02, 2026

Summary

This study is testing whether a radiation-free ultrasound device called Scolioscan can accurately screen for scoliosis in school children. About 160 children referred for scoliosis screening will receive an ultrasound scan alongside standard X-rays to see if the ultrasound can detect curves of 20 degrees or more. If proven accurate, this method could reduce unnecessary radiation exposure from X-rays.
