Simple scan could warn doctors of dangerous blood pressure drops in elderly surgery patients

NCT ID NCT07000188

Summary

This study tested if a simple, non-invasive ultrasound scan of a neck vein could predict which elderly patients might experience a dangerous drop in blood pressure after receiving spinal anesthesia for surgery. Researchers measured the vein's size in 70 patients over 65 years old in different positions before their procedure. The goal was to see if this scan could help doctors identify patients at risk and take steps to prevent complications like heart or kidney problems.
