Doctors test new scan to predict when patients can breathe on their own
NCT ID NCT03657524
Summary
This study is testing if a new type of ultrasound scan can help doctors decide when it's safe to remove a patient's breathing tube. Researchers will use special heart and lung ultrasound on 110 adults in intensive care who are trying to breathe without machine help. The goal is to see if this scan can better predict which patients will struggle to breathe on their own after the tube is removed.
