New device aims to make risky ICU line placement safer and faster

NCT ID NCT06050902

Summary

This study tested a new needle-steering device designed to help doctors place central intravenous (IV) lines more accurately. The trial involved 124 intensive care unit (ICU) patients who needed this type of line. Researchers compared the new device, which uses magnets for better needle control, to the standard ultrasound-guided method to see if it improved success on the first try and reduced complications.
