Can a simple scan save lives in sepsis?
NCT ID NCT06879249
Summary
This study tested whether using frequent ultrasound scans to guide fluid treatment could improve survival for patients with severe sepsis or septic shock. 118 patients in an intensive care unit were randomly assigned to receive either this precise ultrasound-guided fluid management or the usual standard care. The main goal was to see if this approach could reduce deaths within 60 days and improve other health outcomes.
