First seen Jan 12, 2026 · Last updated Jun 12, 2026 · Updated 22 times

Summary

This study looks at whether adding an ultrasound-guided nerve block to standard pain medicine can lower the amount of strong painkillers (opioids) needed after lower back surgery. Fifty adults having elective lumbar spine surgery will be randomly assigned to get either the nerve block plus usual care or usual care alone. Researchers will measure total opioid use in the first 24 hours, pain levels, side effects, and recovery outcomes.
