Doctors test simple scan to make breathing tube removal safer

NCT ID NCT07306091

Summary

This study is testing if a bedside ultrasound scan of the neck can help doctors predict breathing problems before removing a tracheostomy tube (a breathing tube in the throat) from critically ill patients. Researchers will use ultrasound to check vocal cord movement and airflow, then compare the results to the standard exam. The goal is to see if ultrasound is a reliable tool to make the tube removal process safer and more successful.
