Can a simple scan prevent anesthesia danger?

NCT ID NCT04097236

Summary

This study tested whether an ultrasound scan of the stomach works better when a patient is lying flat or tilted at a 45-degree angle. Researchers wanted to see if this scan could accurately detect when a stomach contains too much fluid, which can be dangerous during anesthesia. They tested this on 21 healthy volunteers who drank specific amounts of water. The goal is to improve a safety check that helps prevent stomach contents from accidentally entering the lungs.
