Doctors test ultrasound to spot hidden muscle damage in rare disease
NCT ID NCT07331025
Summary
This study tested whether a simple ultrasound scan could detect early changes in facial muscles of people with Facioscapulohumeral Muscular Dystrophy (FSHD), a rare muscle-weakening disease. Researchers compared ultrasound images from 20 FSHD patients to 19 healthy adults, measuring muscle thickness and structure. The goal was to see if ultrasound could spot subtle damage that regular exams miss, potentially helping doctors track the disease earlier.
