Doctors test simple scan to spot early signs of Muscle-Wasting disease

NCT ID NCT07331025

Summary

This study tested whether a simple ultrasound scan could detect early changes in facial muscles for people with Facioscapulohumeral Muscular Dystrophy (FSHD), a muscle-weakening condition. Researchers compared ultrasound images of facial muscles from 20 people with FSHD to 19 healthy adults. The goal was to see if ultrasound could spot subtle muscle thinning or changes that regular exams might miss, potentially helping doctors monitor the disease earlier.
