Could a simple ultrasound scan spot hidden diabetes damage in unborn babies?

NCT ID NCT07312838

Summary

This study aims to see if measuring a baby's liver size during pregnancy ultrasounds can reveal how gestational diabetes is affecting the fetus. Researchers will compare liver measurements in 115 pregnant women with and without diabetes to see if liver size correlates with blood sugar levels. The goal is to find an earlier, non-invasive way to identify babies at risk from high maternal blood sugar.
