Sound waves target brain to ease fibromyalgia pain

NCT ID NCT07226648

Summary

This study is testing a new, noninvasive treatment that uses focused ultrasound waves to stimulate a specific part of the brain in people with fibromyalgia. The goal is to see if this approach can safely reduce the chronic pain associated with the condition. About 180 adults who have not found relief from standard medications and therapies will receive either the real treatment or a sham (placebo) version over one month, and their pain levels will be tracked for 16 weeks.
