Scientists test ultrasound to wake sleeping brains during anesthesia
NCT ID NCT07221539
Summary
This study aims to understand how anesthesia affects mental function and whether gentle ultrasound stimulation to specific brain areas can help restore consciousness faster. Researchers will use brain imaging to observe healthy volunteers under two common anesthesia drugs while applying ultrasound pulses. The goal is to learn more about brain activity during sedation and potentially develop new approaches to manage consciousness.
