Gentle breathing during heart surgery may speed recovery

NCT ID NCT07073885

Summary

This study tested whether keeping patients on very gentle, low-volume breathing support during heart bypass surgery is better than stopping breathing support completely. Researchers compared 60 adults having planned heart bypass surgery to see if the gentle breathing approach reduced lung stress, helped patients breathe on their own sooner after surgery, and shortened their stay in the intensive care unit.
