Early CT scans sharpen pneumonia prediction in stroke patients

NCT ID NCT07321275

First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 21 times

Summary

This study looked at whether doing a chest CT scan very early (within 24 hours) after a stroke can help doctors better predict who will develop pneumonia, a common and serious complication. Researchers analyzed data from 1499 stroke patients across multiple hospitals. They built and tested a new prediction model that combines clinical signs, inflammation markers, and chest CT findings. The goal is to identify high-risk patients earlier so they can receive preventive treatment.
