New drug tested to boost healing in Tough-to-Treat gut disease

NCT ID NCT03123120

Summary

This study tested the safety and effectiveness of adding a new investigational drug, BI 655130, to standard therapy for adults with mild-to-moderate ulcerative colitis. The goal was to see if the add-on treatment could improve healing of the intestinal lining in patients whose disease was still active despite their current medication. Researchers measured improvements in gut inflammation and symptoms over 12 weeks.
