First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 18 times
Summary
This study looked at whether taking ursodeoxycholic acid (UDCA), a bile acid pill, helps the liver regrow faster and work better after a person donates part of their liver. 90 healthy liver donors took either UDCA or standard care after surgery. Researchers measured liver size and function at 7 and 14 days after the operation to see if the pill made a difference.
