NCT ID NCT01471808
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 28 times
Summary
This study looked at whether adding oral diabetes medications (metformin and pioglitazone, or sitagliptin) to a short course of insulin pump therapy could help newly diagnosed type 2 diabetes patients control their blood sugar and achieve remission for up to one year. A total of 264 patients who had never taken diabetes drugs before participated. The goal was to see if the combination approach improved long-term blood sugar control and preserved the body's ability to produce insulin.
