First seen Jan 06, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 20 times
Summary
This study compares standard gastric bypass surgery to bypass plus a nerve-cutting procedure (truncal vagotomy) for helping type 2 diabetes go into remission. About 40 adults with obesity and diabetes will be randomly assigned to one of the two surgeries and followed for a year. The goal is to see if the added nerve cut leads to better blood sugar control without needing diabetes medication.
