Summary
This study is testing whether an oral medication called dimethyl fumarate can help protect the body's remaining insulin-producing cells in adults recently diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. For 24 weeks, 90 participants will take either the drug or a placebo pill, with researchers measuring how well their pancreas functions and their need for insulin injections. The goal is to see if the treatment can slow the progression of the disease and improve long-term blood sugar control.
