Scientists hunt for diabetes clues in blood and urine

NCT ID NCT01747967

Summary

This study aimed to find simpler blood and urine tests to measure how many insulin-producing cells remain in people recently diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. Researchers followed 156 children and adults for 30 months, collecting samples to see if immune cell activity or other markers could replace a long, cumbersome meal test. The goal was to gather knowledge to help future treatments, not to directly treat participants.
