Common drug could make top surgery recovery smoother

NCT ID NCT05794321

Summary

This study is testing if a single dose of a drug called tranexamic acid (TXA), given by IV during surgery, can reduce bleeding and fluid buildup after gender-affirming mastectomy (top surgery). Researchers will compare 150 patients who receive the drug to those who do not, measuring complications like hematoma and seroma, as well as drain output. The goal is to see if this safe, established drug can make recovery from this common surgery easier and reduce complications.
