First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 11, 2026 · Updated 26 times

Summary

This study tests whether giving a drug called tranexamic acid (TXA) through an IV during gender affirming mastectomy (top surgery) can lower the risk of hematomas (blood collections) and seromas (fluid collections). About 150 adults having top surgery at UCSF will be randomly assigned to receive TXA or not. The goal is to see if TXA reduces bleeding, drain use, and recovery time.
