First seen Feb 06, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 11 times
Summary
This study tested whether tranexamic acid (TXA), a low-cost drug that helps blood clots stay intact, can reduce bleeding during surgery for facial injuries. Sixty adults who needed maxillofacial surgery within a week of trauma took part. Half received TXA and half a placebo, and researchers measured blood loss, hemoglobin drops, and need for transfusions.
