Common drug could make Weight-Loss surgery safer

NCT ID NCT07187258

Summary

This study tested whether a medication called tranexamic acid (TXA) can safely reduce bleeding during and after weight-loss (bariatric) surgery. Researchers gave 132 patients either TXA or a placebo (saltwater) just before surgery to see which group had less blood loss. The goal was to see if this common medication could make this type of surgery safer by preventing a major complication.
