Steroid cocktail eases wisdom tooth recovery, study finds
NCT ID NCT07436546
First seen Feb 28, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 8 times
Summary
This study tested whether adding a steroid to the numbing medicine used during wisdom tooth removal can lessen pain, swelling, and jaw stiffness afterward. Twenty-five adults with similar impacted wisdom teeth on both sides of their mouth received the standard numbing medicine on one side and the numbing medicine plus steroid on the other. Researchers measured pain, swelling, and how wide they could open their mouth over the first week to see if the steroid helped recovery.
