Spinal zaps + balance drills: new hope for wobbly walkers?
NCT ID NCT07298460
First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated May 12, 2026 · Updated 23 times
Summary
This study tests whether a gentle electrical stimulation applied to the skin over the spinal cord (tSCS) can boost balance in adults who still have trouble walking steadily after surgery for a neck condition called degenerative cervical myelopathy. Forty-five participants will be split into three groups: one gets stimulation at the mid-back plus balance training, another gets stimulation at both the neck and mid-back plus training, and a third gets a sham (fake) stimulation plus training. All will do 12 sessions over 4 weeks. The goal is to see if the real stimulation improves balance more than training alone, and to check safety for a future larger trial.
