Groundbreaking trial tackles 20-year life expectancy gap by fixing neighborhoods and family finances

NCT ID NCT05760001

Summary

This study tests whether improving neighborhoods and providing financial support can improve health for Black children. Researchers are working in 60 Philadelphia neighborhoods, making physical improvements like cleaning up vacant lots and abandoned houses while also offering financial counseling and emergency cash assistance to families. They're measuring whether these combined changes lead to better health, fewer hospital visits, and improved wellbeing for about 480 children over time.
