Brain ultrasound for tremors may also ease social anxiety
NCT ID NCT07430761
Summary
This study is looking at whether a treatment that reduces hand tremors in people with Essential Tremor also helps with the social anxiety and stigma caused by the shaking. Researchers will measure changes in psychological distress and social avoidance one year after patients receive a focused ultrasound brain procedure. They want to see if effectively treating the physical tremor leads to significant improvement in how people feel in social situations.
