Liver protein TREM-1 may unlock better treatment for deadly Alcohol-Related hepatitis

NCT ID NCT07176741

First seen Oct 31, 2025 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 31 times

Summary

This study looks at a protein called TREM-1 in liver cells to see if it can help doctors better diagnose and predict the course of severe alcoholic hepatitis, a life-threatening liver condition. Researchers will compare TREM-1 levels in 300 adults with severe alcoholic hepatitis or other liver diseases using stored biopsy samples. The goal is to improve treatment decisions, such as who should receive steroids or be considered for a liver transplant, without directly testing a new therapy.
