Could treating mild hypertension in pregnancy help babies?

NCT ID NCT05989581

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Aug 12, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This study tests whether treating mild high blood pressure (stage 1 hypertension) during pregnancy can improve baby birth weight. 74 pregnant people with blood pressure between 130-139/80-89 mmHg will be randomly assigned to either active treatment with blood pressure medication (labetalol or nifedipine) or usual care. The goal is to see if keeping blood pressure below 130/80 mmHg leads to healthier birth weights.
