Childhood trauma linked to jaw pain and lower quality of life

NCT ID NCT07292103

Summary

This study aimed to understand how traumatic experiences, especially in childhood, affect jaw function and overall well-being in people with temporomandibular joint disorders (TMD). Researchers compared 102 adults with TMD to healthy individuals, asking them to complete questionnaires about their jaw function, mental health, past trauma, and quality of life. The goal was to see if screening for trauma should become a standard part of care for people with chronic jaw pain.
