New tool aims to spot which older trauma patients are most at risk
NCT ID NCT04216381
Summary
This study aimed to test a new tool called the Trauma Specific Frailty Index (TSFI) to see if it could better predict which older adults (age 65+) are likely to have serious complications or a difficult recovery after a physical injury. Researchers at multiple hospitals observed 500 older patients who had experienced trauma. The goal was to validate this tool so doctors could more quickly identify high-risk patients and provide appropriate care.
